Mo Fisch 'Signature' Multi-Purpose Release
Bob Orsua from Mo Fisch Charters designs and creates his own style of release. Many unique components of this multi-purpose proprietary release set it apart from the crowd and provide some unique advantages that you will not find with any other releases on the market.
This release will hold hard pulling plugs such as Lyman Plugs. This style release will also hold braided line, that is very thin and slick.
"When I fish for large rainbow trout I use this release on my planer boards." Bob explains.
"I also use this release on my downriggers. I use a 7" wire lead from the ball to the release, so when you load the rod, the release pulls upward thus giving some flex in the rod tip so you can see the slightest hit or change in your presentation.
I also use this style release for stacking on my downriggers. I first put my downrigger presentation down to say 100 feet, and if I want to fish for suspended fish at 50 feet, then I simply put out a 2nd line maybe with a spoon 40' behind the boat, then put the large ring that comes with the release around the downrigger cable. I attach a 6oz. banana weight on the large ring, attach the fishing line to the release then let out line, that allows the release to slide down the cable. Lower the second line to the desired depth, stop the reel from free spool, then put second rod in a rod holder."
Setting up such a presentation with these releases allow you to adjust both presentations individually. You can adjust the downrigger ball without moving the upper release, and you can raise or lower the upper release without changing the depth of the downrigger. If you catch a fish on the upper presentation the release will just slide down to the downrigger weight.
